Requirements for Child Care & House Parent Volunteers

Basic requirements for Child Care volunteers are as follows:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Traditional Child Care volunteers must be willing to work a minimum of one three-hour shift per week for a minimum of four (4) months or for the duration of one’s semester; or for the duration of the summer months.
  • Must have a Washington State Patrol background check completed by VBCN.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to follow guidance of staff.
  • Must pass interview screening and participate in volunteer training sessions.
  • Must be willing to adhere to Washington State licensing requirements.

Basic requirements for Certified House Parent Internships are as follows:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be enrolled in a Community College or University.
  • Certified House Parent Interns must need a minimum of 120 hours to complete for their quarter/semester.
  • Must have Washington State Patrol and Department of Social & Health Services background checks completed by VBCN.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must pass interview screening and participate in new staff training sessions.
  • Must be willing to adhere to Washington State Licensing requirements.
