Vanessa’s Promise Benefit Luncheon
Vanessa’s Promise Benefit Luncheon raises funds to keep kids safe
The Spokane community helped raise more than $45,000 in gifts for the Crisis Nursery at the Vanessa’s Promise Benefit Luncheon on June 7th.
Because the Crisis Nursery is funded entirely through private donations, the success of the luncheon will help VBCN keep thousands of children safe this year.
Nearly 400 guests were in attendance to share in this special event and witness the emotional testimony about some of the children and families who have found help and support at the Crisis Nursery. One such family, Tom and Jeri McCormick, grandparents and supporters of the Nursery, graciously shared their emotional story about raising their premature granddaughter. Out of pure exhaustion these grandparents turned to VBCN for help – this choice turned out to be an answer to their prayers. (

Amy Swanson, VBCN Executive Director, shared with our supporters that the Crisis Nursery is very unique in that we are 100% prevention based.
“Our founders’ vision was prevention. While specifically we are focused on the prevention of child abuse and neglect, sometimes we have the honor to prevent other crisis situations. For one mom it was preventing suicide. For others we have been able to help parents keep a marriage together. Whatever the reason a parent finds themselves at our doors, we know that it takes dire circumstances to ask and trust people you don’t know at all for help.”
Thank you to our event sponsors!
In addition, we would like to thank the following for their support: Hamilton Studio, KHQ, Northwest Floral Design, Phil Lamb, Revive Coffee, The Lincoln Center, and Whille Burnette.
